Testimonies from the Shark

The leader of the Riviera Maya gang portrays himself as a victim of police harassment. In March 2020, he held a press conference at his home to accuse the police of stealing more than $2.7 million from him, and abusing him and his family. “During my detention, I was tortured physically and mentally,” he told the media. He also claimed he had never been a friend of Constantin Sorinel Marcu, a former gang member who was murdered near Tudor’s home in 2018. In an open letter published in a local newspaper in February 2020 he again attacked the police, claiming he and his family were living in “a nightmare that never ends, of cruel, inhumane and degrading treatment from those in power.”
