Owner information
- In its sanctions notice for Usmanov, the U.K. goverment described the estate as owned by him.
- However, doubts have been raised as to whether he owns it directly. A recent investigation by the Financial Times could not make the connection to him through corporate records.
- The property is owned by two Cyprus companies, Bacerius Investments and Delesius Investments. Both of these, in turn, are owned by a trustee service called Ledra Trustee Services.
- The paper trail ends there. But in an emailed reply to reporters’ questions, a representative of Usmanov said that his U.K. properties had “long ago been transferred into an irrevocable trust,” the beneficiary rights to which had been “donated” to his family.
