This Boeing 787, a model usually used by major airlines, is considered to be one of the world’s most expensive private jets. Abramovich’s version is outfitted to fit 50 passengers and carries the tail number P4-BDL. Although the jet has been widely reported to be owned by Roman Abramovich, its complex ownership structure made this difficult to confirm.
It is registered in Aruba, which doesn’t make its aircraft registry publicly available. Records from the U.S. Federal Aviation Adminstration show that the plane was purchased by British Virgin Islands-domiciled Wenham Overseas Limited in 2018 before being exported to Aruba.
The Financial Investigation Agency of the British Virgin Islands confirmed that Abramovich is the ultimate owner of Wenham Overseas Ltd., the Financial Times reported in April and OCCRP later confirmed.
Lawfirm Ince Germany has since denied that Abramovich owns the BVI company, arguing that the official records have not yet reflected a change in ownership.
The jet’s last recorded flight was from Moscow to Dubai on March 4, 2022.
