In 2014, he was awarded a medal for his favorable coverage of Russia’s annexation of Crimea. Upon the full-scale invasion of Ukraine eight years later, Solovyov told his YouTube viewers it was a historic day on which “the righteous de-Nazification of Ukraine begins.”
