OCCRP spoke to Maria and Constantin Marcu, the parents of Constantin Sorinel Marcu, a former associate of Florian Tudor who was killed in Cancún in 2018. Maria said that Tudor promised her son a good life in Mexico, but things turned bad after the men started feuding in around 2015. Marcu started sabotaging the gang’s rigged ATMs, warning tourists not to use them, and talking to the FBI. His parents believe these actions led to his murder. Constantin is conscious that “nobody is going to bring back our child.” But he hopes that “for the peace of his soul, wherever he is, he will see that justice has been done.”
