The Illegal Surveillance

Riviera Maya gang’s leader Florian Tudor put members of the group who could jeopardize his business under surveillance. When technician Cristian Simion fled back to Romania to escape his life of crime in Mexico, Tudor sent him a photo of one of his children walking on the street to show his family was being watched. (Simion eventually spoke to the authorities and became a prosecution witness.) Tudor also started closely following the movements of his one-time friend Constantin Sorinel Marcu after a feud developed between the pair. “The Shark,” as Tudor is known, once sent Marcu a photo of him sabotaging one of the gang's ATMs via WhatsApp, warning him he had been caught on camera.
