The Security Agent

Energy Solutions of America is a private security firm based in Ciudad Juárez, in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. Two of the Riviera Maya gang’s companies hired the firm to provide security at their headquarters in Cancún, where Tudor lived with his son and a Brazilian woman he calls his wife. In June 2018, one of the firm’s guards, Sergio Cabrera Ramón, gave a statement to police saying he had shot dead former gang member Constantin Sorinel Marcu outside the building as he was attempting to kidnap one of his clients. The judge accepted Cabrera’s version of events, even though a forensic analysis did not detect gunpowder on his hands, and ruled that the killing was not murder. An investigation by Romanian authorities, however, implicates members of Tudor’s gang in the killing.
