The real estate developer had just begun working with Tudor’s Romanian wife, Rebeca, in their Romanian hometown of Craiova. Together they had purchased land to build two apartment buildings, which prosecutors say Tudor used to launder the profits from his Mexican ATM scam. After falling out with Rebeca over an investment in 2016, Dăndică was attacked by two men he believes were Tudor’s thugs. “I’ve tried to break free,” Dăndică told Romanian prosecutors last year. “I realized from the beginning what he wants. He wanted to get his hands on everything that I had, using all sorts of tricks.”
